About Me

Hi, my name is Karen.

I have been married for 38 years, and have four adult children and five lovely grandchildren.

My interest in handcrafts started at an early age. I was only five when my mother taught me to knit, and it is still one of my main passions, along with counted cross stitch. I also enjoy crochet, especially fine cotton crochet, and still do a bit of sewing. A number of years ago I started learning to make porcelain dolls, and have also tried my hand at bobbin lace making and tatting. Unfortunately these have been on hold for a while, but I would love to get back into them at some stage.

This blog is not intended to be a step by step “How To” site. There are already a number of those, and I will probably refer to some of them along the way. My aim here is encourage other people to discover, or further develop, their own handcraft interests and passions.

I plan to discuss choices, share experiences and tips, and offer challenges and project ideas. I would love to hear from other handcraft enthusiasts, and look forward to some interesting discussions.

I believe there are many benefits associated with an active interest in a craft work. I am excited about helping to encourage creativity in others and being a part of the current handcraft revival. I hope that you will join me on the journey.
